I’m not surprised that Digg users flamed me once more. That’s what they do.
But, how do I handle bad comments, what do I do to surpass them? I’ve got a word for that:
“Ignore”
Possibly the most mature way to do so.
Let’s have a little observation:
What do Bush and Microsoft do when they get negative comments?
NOTHING! They don’t even care about those stuff. There are so many things more important than answering comments.
Think about it, what would happen if you answer this comment? How much time will it consume?
What About YOU?
Well, that’s my advice, what about you? What do you do when you get bad comments on your site, email or etc?
I’d submit them to h8m8 so everyone can have a laugh about those fools.
Ignoring is the way to go -screw diggers, they’re just jelaous.
A person recently subscribed to one of our membership sites and posted a ton of very negative comments.
Unfortunately, the “ignore” advice would not work. We had to do some clean up, including a couple of refunds and reputation management. It would have been a lot more messy if we just left things alone.
However…
In general, it makes perfect sense to ignore negative people. In general the “ignore” advice is perfect. Try not to get sucked in.

Yes, if it is a comment about the post or site, I just ignore them. If they venture in to abuse of other commenters and it gets to personal. I delete them.
As far as Digg goes, that is pretty normal behaviour for many of the users, which is one of the things I dislike about the site.
Way to go Carl! Do not care what others say, just know that you’re the only person that knows the truth. I always think that way and it allows me to live a stress free life :)

I think ignoring is a great response. Some people just want a reaction from you. By ignoring the unjustified bad comments, you do not give them the pleasure
You got it right Carl, ignore those flamers. You’re currently on the top spot of make-money-online while they’re not.
Know what? Even flaming could be useful. People who’d never heard of carlocab.com would wonder what all those hell-raising is about and come take a peek.
You’re certainly doing great, leaving all those envious folks behind to eat your dust. :D

Anyone with any level of success is going to have “haters”. Don’t let it get to you and ignore it. Good advice Carl.
I think that sometimes it might make sense to address someone who is trying to give you a bad name by spreading lies about you. However, ignoring them can be good as well.
Ignoring is my second option.
Thats the best thing to do… interesting enough even with negative comments from Digg or other blogs it usually brings some new readers that stick around.
Some people are just envious of you getting some success and they have decided to flame you, the best way is to ignore them just like ignoring those spammers.
Confronting them sometimes will tarnish your reputation as when you are ill-tempered, words that are not supposed to be said at your stage might come out from your mouth. ;-)
It depends where it is. If somebody is flaming me somewhere outside of myown personal space (ie my blog) then I’d just ignore it.
If its on my blog then it depends. I’ve had a few negative comments on my blog and each time one of my regular commenters have piped up in my defence. Both times I thought they did a pretty good job so I left it at that :)
So yes I guess I just ignore it – acknowledging something only adds fuel to it.
I couldn’t agree more – ignoring is the best route. You know what they say – any publicity is good publicity!

Simple but great advice. I’ve received every possible insult, had questions about my manhood and even received a few death threats. You have to laugh at them, hit the delete button and move on.
Ah~ Nice tips, usually I break into a rage looking at negative comments, i just want to beat that person up real bad..
Carl – I am with you I just ignore the negative posts. I used to get upset and reply and then I just found myself going to bad places. So not I just hit the delete button or move on.
After reading your interview with Dean Hunt I also see the negative comments as a positive – at least I got their attention and they are talking about me :)

If the comments are negative because people are just envious then it’s a good thing to ignore them. But if they are negative because you did something wrong, then replying and correcting is a better thing to do. In your case, it’s the first one. So good choice!
Dude you are the man, great job with your website and rankings. Keep up the good work. Your success makes some gurus look like they should pay you for advice.
For a good laugh, watch that funny movie “Idocracy” about how people are getting dumber every year. And then when anyone makes a negative comment, just think of them as the idiots in that movie and ignore them, ha ha.

It’s true, some only want to make trouble anyway. It’s best to ignore them.
I ignore too! I actually don’t blog it anymore. I don’t like giving them some spotlight.

i actually had to close a blogsite once because of negative comments. boy was that a bad decision
Not all negative comments are bad. If we receive a negative comment and it’s true, we can learn from it. Otherwise, ignore.
