“Formal education will make you a living. Self education will make you a fortune.”
I spent 3 years cooking for CODM employees. Throughout those years, I’ve witnessed how the company blossomed. And then one day, I asked myself, “What else can I do other than what I’m currently doing?”
It was April 2019 when I’ve thought of working abroad to explore what I can do and overcome my comfort zone. In the process of deciding, Ma’am Pat, a person close to my heart, advised me to turn to God and ask for guidance. After that, I prayed and poured my trust in Him.
The next day, Carl offered me a position as an Admin Assistant in the company. I accepted the offer even though I was in doubt of my capabilities and lack of experience. I went into training for one and a half month and throughout that process, I gained confidence and trust with the work I do. My everyday experience in the workplace allows me to improve my knowledge and performance in order to further my contribution to the company.
I thank Carl for the opportunity and trust. I promise to not let him down and make sure that I will give my best in helping the company prosper. I’m still learning every day, thanks to him.
From being the cook, who would have thought that I’d be given an opportunity to be an admin assistant? Never hinder yourself from taking opportunities due to lack of experience or credibility. Always make room for growth and give yourself time to explore what you want.
