Most search engines value .gov and .edu backlinks. These links are so called “authority links” to search engines. That’s the reason why most SEO’s hunt for these kind of backlinks.
Even thought it’s quite hard to get these backlinks. Here are some tips for you to start with:
First, go to Google and try to do the following search:
For .edu domains
“Your desired keyword” “powered by wordpress” site:.edu
This search will help you find blogs that uses WordPress with a .edu domain.
“Your desired keyword “ “powered by vBulletin” site:.edu
This search will help you find forums that use vBulletin. Alternatively, you can replace the word “vBulletin” with your desired forum management program (Like Xoops, Phpbb, etc.)
For .gov domains
“Your desired keyword” “powered by wordpress” site:.gov
This search will help you find blogs that uses WordPress with a .edu domain.
“Your desired keyword “ “powered by vBulletin” site:.gov
This search will help you find forums that use vBulletin. Alternatively, you can replace the word “vBulletin” with your desired forum management program (Like Xoops, Phpbb, etc.)
That’s about it. Just play with the search terms. Hehehehe, use your creativity to find some “authority” links. You’re missing something good if you wouldn’t try this and you’ll realize that it’s all worth it.
Honestly, just about a minute ago, I found a .edu forum that allows anyone to register. Of course, I quickly registered and contributed some things. It’s just a matter of luck and some good Googling
Wow. Great tips carl. I am going to have a go at this for my blog.
Thank you Carl, I have never thought of this before. I thought .edu domains were only used by schools. Trying my luck now on looking for some of these sites. Wish me luck! :)

wow its a new experience for me to search more backlinks again.i will try it soon.thank you for this tips carlo.
I haven’t tried to build backlinks much through this method. Found the same tip in another site, and here’s what happened. Whenever I comment on a .edu WP blog that has nothing to do with “make money online” or SEO, it gets accepted. I wonder why I cannot make a comment on .edu blogs when the topic is about SEO and Internet Marketing and why my post would be labeled “questionable?” Did this in two separate .edu blogs about SEO, and I was aghast why.
Well, good tips there.
wow carl, this info is golden . i’m trying it now !

Very clever idea here. Any suggestions for weeding out search results on results pages with nofollows? Most of the sites using WP have this by default. I tried adding -nofollow to the search query but that didn’t seem to work.
I have actually tried this method. It is a bit hit and miss, but you can get some good quality links out of it. I have a site at number one with a .edu backlink.
I hope all of this happens. I mean, it’s for the sake of research and education, which is priceless.

Nice tips for getting back links from some very trusted sites by Search engines. great.
Once you see these strategies in action you will be tempted to go overboard and get 1000’s of .edu back links to your site. It needs to be done in moderation, so some self control will be required and some patience.

Of course you could always buy some software that will do it for you but then you still have to make the comments, signatures or whatever manually.
I have found that purchasing the right software that automates little parts of the system is well worth the money spent.
Can you name some softwares that I can purchase?
I will try out these tips about backlinks… thanks.
How many times have you been told the money is in the list, the money is quite frankly in a buyers list.

Hi everyone!
I have to add in contract a remark that websites of my clients surely will contain “Powered by Me” backlink. So how I should write this part of agreement in legal way?
A unique way to find .gov links without have to pay a link farm for them. Thanks.
